A Memorandum of Cooperation has been signed between the Azerbaijan Children’s Fund (AUF) and the Azerbaijan Textile Association (ATA) to support the development and implementation of safety and quality standards in the field of children’s textiles and children’s apparel.
The Memorandum was signed by Zahra Badalbayli, Chairperson of the Azerbaijan Children’s Fund, and Farida Akhundova, Executive Director of the Azerbaijan Textile Association.
The purpose of the document is to support the development and implementation of national standards in the Republic of Azerbaijan for children’s textile products, covering safety, sanitary-hygienic, chemical, and physical risks, as well as to strengthen institutional cooperation in this field.
Within the framework of the Memorandum, cooperation will focus on the following areas:
- Defining safety and quality requirements for children’s clothing and everyday textile products;
- Applying a risk-based approach to chemical substances, dyes, accessories, and mechanical hazards;
- Studying and adapting international standards (ISO, OEKO-TEX, EN, etc.);
- Establishing coordinated cooperation mechanisms with relevant government authorities;
- Strengthening institutional collaboration in the field of children’s products and establishing dedicated working groups;
- Implementing awareness-raising initiatives for parents, consumers, and manufacturers.
As part of the implementation of the Memorandum, the first practical step has already been taken. On 24 February 2026, a working meeting was held with the Azerbaijan Institute of Standardization. During the meeting, discussions were conducted with Kamala Mammadazada, Deputy General Director – Director of the Department of Standardization, regarding the development and implementation of safety standards for children’s textile products.
The parties noted that this cooperation will contribute to strengthening the safety culture in children’s products, aligning local production with international standards, and enhancing consumer protection.
