Today, during the “Better Cotton” conference held in the Blue Zone at the COP29 Global Forum, a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation was signed between the Azerbaijan Textile Association and the “Uztextilprom” Association. The memorandum was signed by Farida Akhundova, Executive Director of the Azerbaijan Textile Association, and Mirmukhshin Sultanov, Chairman of the “Uztextilprom” Association.
This memorandum marks the beginning of a strategic partnership between the two organizations, aimed at fostering the development of the textile industry through sustainable growth, environmental responsibility, and the implementation of COP29 principles.
The primary goals of this partnership include exchange of expertise in sustainable textile technologies and environmentally friendly production methods, Supporting energy efficiency and technology adoption in the textile industries of both countries and also Promoting global initiatives aligned with COP29 standards, including carbon footprint reduction and waste management.
“This agreement represents an important step in strengthening ties between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan in the textile sector,” stated Farida Akhundova. “Together, we can promote sustainable development in cotton and textile production in the region and take significant steps toward addressing global environmental challenges.”
Mirmukhshin Sultanov, Chairman of “Uztextilprom,” emphasized the global importance of Uzbekistan’s cotton industry, stating:
“Uzbekistan is one of the leading cotton producers in the world, with rich traditions and extensive experience in the textile sector. This partnership with the Azerbaijan Textile Association is a crucial step toward enhancing the global presence of both countries in the textile and cotton markets. By combining our shared heritage and modern capabilities, we can achieve a stronger and more competitive position on the international stage.”
Under the memorandum, the parties agreed to Conduct annual meetings to evaluate the outcomes of the collaboration and plan new initiatives, Organize joint events aimed at promoting innovations in the textile industry.
